bodice stitching
So, a very good friend suggested coat hanger wire to reinforce a weak bodice, but...

does anyone have a second best suggestion? I've tried the plastic boning, but at Conclave I realized after putting another girl in my dress that the fiber-plastic boning tends to warp with heat, unlike the harder plastic, and while I like it, it started to become funky and twisted out of shape. I haven't had luck with full plastic boning, so...help?

Twelfth Night and Classic Wassail Recipes - Enjoy

Hello Everyone! I know it's early, but I thought I would share a popular English holiday drink and a little history. Enjoy!

12 small red apples
3 whole cloves
3 whole allspice
3 cardamom seed, coarsely broken
1 cinnamon stick, broken
2 quarts ale
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 cups sugar
4/5 quart dry sherry
6 eggs, separated

Bake apples at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Set aside. Tie cloves, allspice, cardamom and cinnamon in cheesecloth bag. Place in kettle with 2 cups ale, ginger and nutmeg. Heat slowly 10 minutes; remove spice bag. Add remaining ale, sugar and sherry. Heat slowly 20 minutes. Do not boil. Beat egg whites to stiff peaks. Beat yolks and fold in whites. Slowly beat in hot ale mixture until smooth. Carefully pour in punch bowl. Float apples on top. Serve warm in heated mugs or cups.

In Tudor England, the Twelfth Night marked the end of a winter festival that started on Samhain, or Halloween. The Lord of Misrule symbolizes the world turning upside down. On this day the King and all those who were high would become the peasants and vice versa. At the beginning of the twelfth night festival a cake which contained a bean was eaten. The person who found the bean would run the feast. Midnight signaled the end of his rule and the world would return to normal. The common theme was that the normal order of things was reversed. This Lord of Misrule can be traced back to the  Celtic festval of Samhain. The Winter Solstice(December 21st) historically marked the first day of many winter festivals. The 12 nights following and including the solstice represent the 12 zodiac signs of the year - and the 12th Night (the American New Years Day) is a culmination and celebration of the winter festivals.

Of course, this is all modernized, but still incredibly fun!

Super Sekrit Mail from ROS ST Board!

But it is only for the most awesome chocolate cake - fix ever.  Mwa haa haa (You all thought it was going to be about larp.  I mocks you.)

Sent to our board by Mary-An Tedder, Assistant ST, in the hopes of giving us all something bright and happy to do in between doing DT and micromanaging our players IC lives... wheee!

The recipe works, and is more like a chocolate cake-brownie than cake.  Um... darn?  :D  ENJOY!

1 Coffee Mug
4 tablespoons flour(that's plain flour, not self-rising)
4  tablespoons sugar
2  tablespoons baking cocoa
1  egg
3  tablespoons milk
3  tablespoons oil
3  tablespoons chocolate chips  (optional)
some nuts (optional)
Small splash of vanilla
Add dry  ingredients to mug, and mix well .  Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in  the milk and oil and mix well.
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and  vanilla, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3  minutes on high. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be  alarmed!
Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT! (this can serve  2 if you want to share!)
And why is this the most dangerous  cake recipe in the world?  Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from  chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!

Help out my Brother
On October 4th, my older brother Rem was riding his motorcycle, 1980 Harley FLH bobber, down High Street here in Columbus. If your not familiar, High St is one of the two busiest streets in Columbus, it runs North South right by OSU Campus.
Anyhow, some dumb whore thought it would be a wise idea to not look before she opened her fucking driver side door. My brother Rem now has a steel plate in his foot, and three steel rods in his toes. Insurance has taken care of some of the bills, but for everything he needs.......... the numbers are really scary, and he makes Pizzas, and is looking at being out of work somewhere between 6 weeks and 6 months depending on the surgeries yet to come.
Both he and I have no problem admitting to be pretty simple guys honestly, but I can honestly say that without him in my life none of you would know me now.
If you can spare some cash to help him out, I have created a PayPal account for him,

Please.... if anyone can help, he more than anyone deserves it, even if it is only a dollar.

Does anyone here make or know how to make (very simple) fragranced clear/lightly tinted glycerine soaps? And where I could buy the materials to do such?

hey all, I have someone here in Ohio that's like a brother to me, and his family has recently run upon hard times. A recent surge in Flood waters has ruined their basement to the tune of nearly $60,000.00.
I usually don't do things like this, but he's my brother and a fellow gamer. If you can help out, even if it is a dollar or two, anything can help. When his family got the house, Flood insurance was not offered, because back then the house was not considered in a flood hazard zone.
Please help if you can.

Thanks folks,

Something not done in a while
Not sure about other games, but here in the midwest, one of the things we have done for each other is make mix CD's of how our PC's view other PC's as inspired by music, so, here's an open invitation.

If you think that my Gangrel PC, Michael HeartsBlood has had enough RP with yours, email me and I'll make a mix CD of songs inspired by your role play and your PC, but you have to send one back to me of your PC's view of michael as inspired through music.

Include addresses if I don't see you at a game on a regular basis.

Have at folks

only this community would appreciate this!
i'm very happy to have found this community through another member! only you guys could even begin to understand what i'm about to post!

first- a little into. skip it if you like. :)

my name is jessi rose, and i really miss game. my husband and i stopped playing about three years ago, and i would like to go back sometime soon. as a plus, the lack of game has given me the time i needed to start my own crafting business. check out weaving_roses if you're itchin for more on that, or want to share your own gothy crafty secrets. (go on. you know you wanna! *grins*)

okee, here's the basic scoop:

six years ago this fall, i was desperate for cash and desperate for christmas gifts for friends. i had yarn, so i started to crochet christmas gifts around september. the only time i had free time, as many of us already seem to know, was at game. time stops, slow moments, prince went on a bathroom break... there was not a moment i did not grab my hooks. many of thre people in the game thought it strange, and challenged me in character to explain what i was doing. well... i was playing a really stupid, really sassy, really really angry brujah named samone davis. (fredericksburg/northern virginia/dc area) i pawned it off as "anger management". :P pretty soon some of the other ladies got the craft bug too, and then samone was "teaching anger management classes". it got really fun! we had an 8(ish?) foot nos bruiser crosstitching. good times, man. good times. well, anyhoo, the anger management thing sorta stuck, even though i have not played the game in almost three years.

Now granted this isn’t the best picture in the world, but this is what I want to do… Find any ball gown and cut it off half way like in the pic. It will be easy to make the ruffles at the bottom and add the bows.
With the remaining fabric I am going to make the ruffle around the top of the dress. With lace for the sleeves and the top layer of the undresses, and white satin with krinkle under that I should be set!

I want a victorian-esqu dress... and barring taking al the time to do it myself, i am going to salvage and puzzle one together.

Suggestions welcome, and needed please :)

my name is heather anderson. i live in maplewood, mn *waves at auroracita up there in the frozen part of the state* with my husband and 2 cats. i am a theology student and currently a marketing assistant.

just found this community and added....although i haven't played for about 9 months so i'm not sure i qualify, i definitely have the craft part down. i have a ventrue named Sarnait in DC that i really need to get around to bringing into action up here.
i am an avid soap-maker and have been for about 4 years. i mainly make castilles and variations on goat's milk, because i am too lazy to render tallow. i will try it one of these days.
i dabble in other crafts. i knit (just beginning to bet into it again). i have _started_ a crochet project...but who knows if i'll ever finish it. knitting is easier/faster/i'm better at it.
i _would_ like to learn how to sew again. i haven't made anything except a REALLY crappy runner (with no pattern) since junior high school.
